Duration: 3.5 Hours

Type of Service: Taste Milan Food Walking Tour – small group tour

Milan is a unique city with two souls: a very traditional, (northern) Italian; and one that is bustling, innovative, fashion-driven, with the energy that you can find only in few European capitals. It’s also their combination that makes this city unique. We will show them both to you, taking you in three different neighbourhoods.

Our walking Milan food tour starts with a wine tasting, a local Franciacorta sparkling wine in a hidden and unique venue, a little gem kept by wine lovers. This is the traditional beginning of a feast in Italy, and the perfect start for a dive into the Milanese atmosphere. Your licensed guide, your Food Ambassador, will walk you through recipes, dishes, curiosities, history and lifestyle showing you Porta Romana area, known to locals for the quality of its restaurants; the bustling area of the Darsena, not far from the Navigli, the center of Milanese nightlife; and the classy San Lorenzo area.  We will also take you on a short trolley ride. Our gastonomic tour includes of course the most traditional of local dishes: Risotto alla Milanese, in one of the most renowned restaurants. We combine it with a more innovative pasta dish, as well as with an exquisite white wine.

We choose only passionate and high-quality local producers, and the best food venues that only locals know. That’s why our tour also includes the only cheese shop in Italy that sells cheeses only made with unpasteurized milk; or an Italian reimagining of fashion-Milan favourite dish: sushi! These are just some of the stops that, walking you through a proper Italian meal of five courses paired with wine, ends with a dessert that may be a modern version of tiramisu or something equally creative.

This walking food tour is designed to experience some of the best food and wine in Milan, while discovering the two souls of this city: on the one side the old and traditional; and on the other the innovative, bustling and experimental. You will taste dishes coming from centuries-long traditions, such as the renowned Risotto alla Milanese; you will hear about the production of the famous Franciacorta wine while sipping it; but you will also explore hidden venues, gems known only to locals for the quality of their dishes. The best local specialities are paired with great wines.
